What Goes in Your Trash Bin
Our recycling is single-stream: paper, cardboard, cartons, metals, and rigid plastics numbered #1 through #7. Glass, plastic bags, film, wrap, and styrofoam go in your trash.
Accepted (everyday household waste)
- Food scraps and food packaging
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastics #3 through #7 — yogurt cups, tubs, clamshells, takeout containers
- Plastic bags, film, and wrap
- Styrofoam of any kind
- Food-soiled paper, napkins, and paper towels
- Grease-soiled pizza boxes
- Diapers and hygiene products
- Pet waste and cat litter
- Other ordinary household garbage
Not accepted in trash
- Hazardous waste, paint, chemicals, automotive fluids, motor oil
- Batteries
- Tires
- Liquids
- Medical or biohazardous waste (needles, medications)
- Construction/demolition debris
- Large appliances
- Large furniture
Why no glass in recycling? Glass shatters in the truck, and the shards contaminate the paper and cardboard around it, which is the part that actually gets recycled. Glass goes in your trash bin and we'll take it from there.
Yard debris: We pick up up to 5 bags of yard debris per pickup, in biodegradable brown yard bags. We can't take unbagged debris, yard bags filled with household trash or construction debris, or heavy/rigid items like stumps, rocks, concrete, or bricks.
